Gewaltbereitschaft und Gewalttätigkeit bei Kindern und Jugendlichen sind weder neue noch besonders akute Themen, jedoch in ihrer Aktualität nicht weniger erheblich. Auch wenn die 2009 veröffentlichte Studie des Kriminologischen Forschungsinstitutes Niedersachsen seit 1998 tendenziell rückläufige Zahlen in der Kriminalstatistik verzeichnet, ist die quick 100%iger Zunahme von Gewalttaten bei 14-18 Jährigen von 1990 bis 1999 nicht zu vernachlässigen.
Die Verschärfung dieser Problematik und die sich abzeichnende Entwicklung verlangen zunehmend nach Lösungen. Im Zuge dessen wuchs die Anzahl der Interventions- und vor allem der Präventionsmaßnahmen, um dieser Entwicklung vorzubeugen.
Im Vergleich zu Interventionen sind präventive Konzepte sowohl langfristig erfolgreicher als auch deutlich kostengünstiger. Da an Kindergärten und Schulen competitive und gewaltbereite Verhaltensweisen zum Dauerthema geworden sind, konzentrieren sich effektive Präventionsansätze, über die Unterstützung der Familien hinaus, auf die Entwicklungsbedingungen der Kinder in den außerfamiliären sozialen Beziehungen in Kindergärten und Schulen. Auch aus entwicklungspsychologischen und neurobiologischen Forschungsbefunden geht hervor, dass sich vorbeugende Maßnahmen auf die frühe Kindheit fokussieren sollten. Demnach bieten sich die Jahre im Vorschulalter besonders für primäre Präventionsmethoden an.
FAUSTLOS ist das einzige in Deutschland existierende Gewaltpräventionsprogramm, das für diese Altersgruppe entwickelt wurde. Vor diesem Hintergrund ergab sich das Forschungsinteresse der vorliegenden Arbeit.
Intention ist es, unter Einbeziehung von Erzieherinnen, das Projekt FAUSTLOS an Kindergärten zu evaluieren.
