Jahrhunderts, und die Frage nach Realisierbarkeit wirklicher künstlicher Intelligenz bleibt dennoch quick unverändert bestehen - trotz auf den ersten Blick beeindruckender Leistungen moderner "Chatterbots" im world-wide-web, die sich letztlich in der culture von Joseph Weizenbaums ELIZA, der ersten eigentlichen "Sprechmaschine", befinden.

Leitfrage der vorliegenden Argumentation ist, inwiefern schriftliche Kommunikation zwischen exakt zwei wechselseitigen Kommunikatoren bzw. Rezipienten in ihrem Inhalts- und Beziehungsaspekt in step with Computersimulation ab- bzw. nachgebildet werden kann. Wo sind diesbezügliche Leistungsgrenzen und -perspektiven zu verorten? Und, als dringlichstes Anliegen: Welche soziologischen, weiterhin linguistischen und sozialpsychologischen Grundkonzepte werden durch das Modell akzeptiert bzw. realisiert?

Am Beispiel des Klassikers ELIZA wird gezeigt, daß zur sozialwissenschaftlichen Fundamentierung der Modellannahmen ELIZAs insbesondere der Symbolische Interaktionismus von dessen Methodologie, Terminologie und Wirkungslogik als interpretative Mikrotheorie her herangezogen werden kann. Hierzu werden kommunikationswissenschaftliche Anleihen genommen. Weiterhin sollen exemplarisch an zwei Weiterentwicklungen ELIZAs in deutscher Sprache, einerseits TESMIK von Maren Arnhold 2000, sowie andererseits ELIZA.JS von Heiko Schröder und Peter Teich 1998, die Reichweitengrenzen von Theorie und Simulation demonstriert werden.
